Course support resources

The DCC is intended for Duke-sponsored, faculty-led research. The compute and storage resources hosted on the DCC are funded by Duke and Duke researchers specifically for this purpose.

Duke course support resources

Researchers with their own resources are welcome to use those for course support.

For groups needing additional resources for course work and course support, please see these Duke resources:

DCC and course support

While the DCC is intended for Duke-sponsored research, we also understand that sometimes advanced courses that teach high-performance computing skills or research methodologies need resources that go beyond what Duke offers for course support. For those courses, we can review the requests and, if deemed appropriate, provision limited resources to help meet those needs. Some requirements for those courses include:

  • Graduate-level courses
  • Course material specifically focused on teaching cluster computing skills and techniques
  • Course material specifically focused on teaching advanced research methods relative to high-performance computing
  • Instructors with previous experience utilizing cluster-computing environments

Course support requests

If you are an instructor and believe that the course support resources referenced above do not adequately cover your needs, and you feel the DCC would be an appropriate environment based on the considerations listed above, please contact us at oitresearchsupport@duke.edu for review.

For your request, you must include the following information:

  • Course ID (Subject, Catalog #, and class name)
  • Section
  • Instructor name and netID
  • An explanation as to why the course resources listed above do not meet your needs and provide adequate justifications for DCC use

If your request is approved, resources will be limited. Course support projects will not have dedicated access and there may be wait times for resources (based on cluster usage).

Formerly-supported resources for the educational cluster were retired in May of 2026.
